Sarah Millin is a British artist inspired by the quirks of nature and enchanted childhood memories.  She uses her fertile imagination to animate and characterise birds, fish and animals.

Sarah has recently returned from a round-the-world trip and was inspired by the vibrant colours and patterns of India’s fabulous palaces, the luminescent fish of the Cook Islands, southern Asia’s lace-like butterflies and African birds that leave you wondering whether nature is playing with our senses.

Many happy hours were spent daydreaming and collecting beads and buttons, sequins and sparkles, gold and glass, seeds and shells.  Unusual and obscure material were collected from around the world; Ethiopian silver crosses, the glitz and glamour of Indian textiles, Guatemalan hand-painted jewellery and Mexican folk art.  These beautiful materials have been incorporated into pieces of art to produce work that captures the childlike magic and beauty of the world.

Sarah also paints and draws with inks and acrylics.  These pieces of artwork are then transformed using a range of mixed media to enhance and personalise a range of subjects from strawberry jewelled cup cakes to mosaic trucks.

Sarah studied textile design at Chelsea College of Art and continues to be enthused by the beauty of fabrics and colour. She spent two years as a textile designer in Kenya working with street children and women’s groups creating batik and tie dye fabrics for export and local markets.  It was during this time Sarah enjoyed

bird watching and spending time observing the characters and colours of African birds and animals.

Sarah has been commissioned by Liberty’s of London to produce an exclusive range of work and welcomes international and national commissions.
