These images have been taken from my round-the-world sketchbook.
Fish and Flora
The fish images were painted during my time on the Cook Islands. Never had I seen such peculiar and wonderfully coloured fish during my snorkelling adventures. The Cook Islands were abundant with intensely coloured flowers, ferns, creepers and towering trees, many of which have been transformed and incorporated into my artwork creating, amongst others the 'leaf fish', 'fern fish', 'red lobster fish' and 'flower fish'.
Bird and Fauna
The bird images were created in the Taman Negara rainforest in Malaysia. I stayed in a small forest hut constantly hearing the forest alive with the noises of insects and birds. It was the first time I has seen a banana flower and just had to paint the 'banana bird'. The lizards which ran wild amongst the rainforest undergrowth were so well camouflaged that I was inspired to create 'leaf lizard'. |
